Trouble connecting Camcorder to a HDTV for TV Recording ?

im trying to connect DigiLife DDV-1080HD camcorder to my HDTV Philphs 42 inch 1080i plasma for tv recording like a tv show or something, there is instruction in manual how to connect it but on camcorder LCD screen it says No Signal and im doing everything step by step i even tried connecting to DVD recorder with same results it uses AV Cable yellow/red/white and it has one port for AV IN/OUT on camcorder my tv has AV Out on the side and on the back tried both and nothing, i also forgot to mention that it came with compoment cable for HD so if anyone could help please...
