Answer by fhotoace The lens will probably cast a shadow; the closer to the subject, the more shadow.
This is one case where using an external flash, held off to one side makes sense.

I want to be able to take those cool circular pictures with the black corners. What kind of fisheye lens do I need? What is the difference between 0.42x and 0.21x? I'm trying not to spend more than $ 40. Thanks!

Answer by Caoedhen Those things you are looking at are not going to do what you want. You need a real fisheye lens for that. The cheapest new fisheye that I know of runs about $ 350, for the Vivitar 8mm.
You can get a "sort of the same only different" look with the adapters.
