Good Camera
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I’ve had this camera for about a month and so far I really like it. It’s nice, simple to use, and takes good pictures, which is the most important thing. I only wish the camera was a little thinner and had a bigger screen, but you can’t beat the price.

software problems
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I purchased this camera to use as a carry around and lend to a friend as needed. That was a mistake. The Kodak software is not that great and it does not work well with Picasa or other programs. There are apparently fixes which I have not gotten to work yet, but who wants to spend the time doing that rather than working on the photos and enjoying them.

I dropped by Easyshare DX7440 so I had to get something real quick while I get the other repaired. The features were not quite the same, but if you read the instructions first instead of thinking you know what you’re doing, you will find this to be a great camera for the price.

A good and easy camera
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The only bad thing about this camera if you buy sight unseen (in person) is that it is thicker than I would prefer. Nonetheless, it is still very portable. light, is quick, takes very nice photos, and is intuitive. Digital cameras have come a long way and the fact there many 10MP cameras out well under $100 is awesome. I have a Canon Rebel Xti and no a camera like this C180 will compare but I don’t think any point and shoot will. I have also owned 2 Canon point and shoots – both had the LCD die over time. I also had a Nikon Coolpix, and it was way too slow which caused poor picture quality as well, hence soon sold it. So these little Kodaks I think are well worth it when compared to the other major brands. If you want a thinner camera, I suggest the M340, I would of paid the extra $15 for that.

One odd but good thing, photos shot at full resolution 3664 x 2748 come in at only 1.6mb whereas my Canon Rebel (also 10mp) shoots 2592 x 3888 but each photo is much bigger = 3.8mb.

The HD photos on this C180 are a misnomer. They are actually wide angle, panoramic photos which can only be shot at 7.6 megapixels – which is fine but not what is advertised.

It has video, but buy a video camera if you want to shoot videos. I don’t know about the Kodak EasyShare software, it is not a selling point for me since Picasa has been around.

Out of the box bad
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought a Kodak Easyshare C180 camera as a Christmas gift for my granddaughter and was “out of the box bad”. Put the Kodak Alkaline batteries in it that came with the camera, took about three pictures and the batteries were bad. We replaced the batteries with new Duracell Alkaline batteries, took a few more pictures and the new batteries were bad. Tried this a few more times in denial that a brand new Kodak camera would be bad.

Contacted Kodak and was instructed to send the camera to their repair center in Conneticut and it could be repaired or be replaced with a refurbished one. The repair service sent the camera back and it was just as bad as when I sent it. The repair service told me it was because I used alkaline batteries and I should buy rechargeable batteries and a charger. Why would Kodak send the camera with alkaline batteries if they didn’t work? Kodak’s website indicated if you use alkaline batteries you should get between 30-70 pictures, and of course we got no where near that, maybe 5 at the most. Even if the camera was not in use, it was draining the batteries. It is obvious that the camera is drawing more current than the batteries can hold. The repair center told me to basically live with the problem. After indicating the world was going to come to an end for their reputation by way of the internet, they called back to say they would send me rechargeable batteries and a charger and if that didn’t work, to call them back. I most likely will be calling back.

So I have paid for brand new batteries that lasted no more than five minutes to test the camera, UPS charges to return the camera and am no closer to solving the problem.

Today I am going out to buy a Sony camera because I think my graddaughter has waited long enough for her Christmas gift. I would strongly suggest anyone considering buying this camera to reconsider.

Terrible Picture Quality!!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This camera takes terrible pictures!!! I purchased it because I make the school’s yearbook, and it’s useless! If I use the “auto” setting to get enough light in the pictures, the people are grainy or blurry. If I use the “action” setting to reduce the blur, then the pictures are underexposed. In some situations, these amorphous white dots of light just appear in the pictures.

I have tried every setting available and nothing helps. I have missed so many cute shots that would have been wonderful and cannot be reproduced this year.

Having bought a Kodak Easyshare C model years ago, which took AMAZING pictures and just flat wore out, I thought this one would do the same…big mistake. Do NOT buy this camera!

Great camera, but no speaker
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I bought this to replace a broken camera. I didn’t want to spend a fortune. I like the size and the picture quality is great. I wish Kodak had not changed the on/off switch – now a small button instead of part of the dial that chooses which type of picture.

By far, the biggest drawback is that there is no speaker! So, when you make a video, you have to download it, before being able to hear the audio. I had no idea this was the case and my children are very disappointed by the lack of speaker.

Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is a bargain in that for the price you’ll get great photo quality. By comparison, the picture quality of this camera is either better than some cameras that are worth over $200 or equal. I’d definitely recommend this camera to just about anyone!

S-I-M-P-L-E
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Bought this one for my 12yo niece. I try every piece of electronic equipment before I give it. I was surprised. It took me only 2-3 minutes to get familiar with the camera’s operation out of the box (no instruction reading). I found it’s set-up to be very intuitive without the massive confusing menu system of – oh – lets say the CANNON POWERSHOT A560.

Set up the camera mode on a dial switch.

turn flash on/off/auto at a single button.

point-click-picture. And nice ones too.

small problem – the picture stabilization mode only seems to work when the fash is used. When the flash is on, you can violently shake this camera all over the place and it will capture the crispest image when it goes off, even your shoes or ceiling if you’re shaking it that violently.

Using a 4GB sandisk sdhc card, on maximum 10mp, the camera says it will hold just under 2000 pictures on the counter. On minimum 1.2mp setting, the counter stops at 9999. Yes, nine thousand nine hundred ninety nine. The numbers don’t add up to me for MP size and # of photos, but if upscaling is used ( as I’ve read from others) , then these picture quantities do start to make sense.

Between the Cannon power shot and another hard to use upscale Sony camera, both wanted this one for ease of use. What they actually want.

My neice looooooooooooves this camera.

Takes about 45min of video too.

If you want wall sized pictures – this is not for you.

Full page picture – It can handle pretty well.

4×6 memories – I don’t think anyone can go wrong.

I am currently retired from graphic design and photostyling for catalogs, I found the C180 to be a camera I wish I’d had ten years ago. I was amazed to find it has so many settings (it has ISO as well as many other settings for the most fun and practicality.) It also takes videos.

I took it on vacation with me and made some pretty special videos as well as stills. I recommend this to anyone.

Chuck it & get a Canon
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
For this amount of money, you can get a Canon with much better quality. The Kodaks have light leaks so when pointed perpendicular to the sun, you get red blobs. The Kodaks shoot 640×240 & upscale it. There’s no manual control of anything. Picture quality sux. Video encoding sux. Red blobs suck.

Poor quality photos
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This camera takes poor quality photos. Yes, it’s slim and lightweight. Yes, the shutter speed is snappy. But the photos are of such poor quality that it’s a pretty useless camera.

I bought this camera at Best Buy for $100 because my Olympus SP-320 is starting to act up (sometimes it won’t turn on). During the first two days I owned the Kodak, I took nearly 100 photos in a variety of lighting conditions; none of them were keepers. A few looked okay when viewed on the computer at 25% size, but most were noticeably fuzzy. When viewed at 100%, all 97 photos are fuzzy; some of them even look like paintings rather than photos. Most of the photos had awful contrast, too.

As a last test before returning the camera, I took the Kodak and my Olympus outside and two a set of identical photos with each (a park with lots of trees on a sunny day). The photos from the 7 megapixel Olympus were sharp even in the shadowed areas and the sky was a beautiful blue. The photos from the Kodak were noticeably fuzzy and the sky was nearly white. I took the Kodak back.

Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I bought this camera to replace one that I fell in the water with. I take pictures of everything, my dog, my kids, nature, buildings and anything that catches my eye. I’m not a photographer, but this camera is easy to use and it’s settings enable me to take some awesome pictures. The more familiar I get with it, the better my pictures are turning out. This is a great little camera for point and shoot and is extremely easy to use. The only thing I wish it had (unless it has it and I haven’t found it yet) is color filters for sunset photos.

My 7-year old daughter was given this camera for Christmas. She does not always handle it carefully. She is not a skilled photographer, however when she took this camera to Japan last summer her photos turned out beautifully! We are pleased with the durability of the camera, the ease of use it offers and the price. Only downside–AA batteries needed, but with rechargeables, not really a problem.

great little camera
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is a great little camera for those of us who are not serious photographers. It is fairly simple to use and has features I have yet discovered, I think.

The only negative aspect is the quality of instructions that come with the camera—very minimal but I was able to figure out most techniques through trial and error and having had a “lesser” version” of this camera (which I broke). Batteries are always a challenge. I strongly advise using Utlimate Energizer batteries (lithium) which have a long life although expensive (2-3 bucks). I tried using rechargeable batteries but they were so undependable I gave up and went to the Energizers. Just carry an extra set of batteries with you when you are out picture taking.

Small Digital Camera
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
My wife loves to have up to date pictures of the family, especially our grandsons. She carries this camera in her pocketbook ready to take pictures at every opportunity. She likes its simplicity to operate, its small size and the quality of the pictures taken. She also likes the practicality of taking lots of pictures and being able to delete whatever does not meet her standards. This mode of operation was not practical with her film box cameras.

Easy Entry-Level Camera
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This camera is incredibly easy to use, but offers enough advanced features for the average point-and-shoot user. I bought the camera for my older parents who needed a simple camera. I was choosing between the Kodak M1033 and this camera, but decided to go with this camera because it is slightly easier to use. Kodak describes the C series as a line of easy entry-level cameras, and that’s definitely true.

PROS:

- Easy for first-time digital camera users

- Large LCD screen

- Large amount of megapixels

- Many “scene” settings pre-programmed for different types of shots

- Very low price

- Compact size

- Plug and play sharing via EasyShare

CONS:

- No viewfinder

- M1033 has a couple extra features (i.e., panoramic stitching)

- Uses AA batteries vs. charger (although this is mitigated by a good set of rechargeable batteries

Buy this camera if you’re looking for an affordable, compact, easy to use camera. It will meet the needs of most point-and-shoot users. Do not buy this camera if you’re looking to customize your shots beyond pre-programmed settings (i.e., adjustments in ISO, f-stop, shutter speed, etc.), but that should be self-evident, as this is a point-and-shoot.

Takes some time to figure out what mode to use for lighting
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This camera is pretty good overall. The batteries that came with it died after taking just a few pictures. We put new, name-brand batteries in so hopefully we won’t see the same results, if so that really sucks. It is pretty intuitive to use, we didn’t have to read the directions. I think it’s going to take a while to figure out exactly what setting to use for each situation. I took a bunch of pictures of fireworks on New-Years without realizing there was a “Fireworks” mode. Overall it’s a pretty good camera, nice and compact, turns on quickly and really takes great outdoor-daytime pictures.

No memory
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I took 6 photos, and got the “memory full” signal. Also, the viewfinder was not a good indicator of what the picture would be. My granddaughter says it is “clunky” for what it does (not much), and it should have a battery charger. On “ease of use”, I would give it a 1 out of 10.

Very disappointed…
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I regret not paying more attention to the other customer reviews prior to buying this camera. Although it takes perfectly good pictures, it has two very major drawbacks (both of which I would have been warned about had I been more thorough). First, it has no viewfinder through which to frame your photo — the only image you have to work with is the one that appears on the LED screen. The problem there is that in anything even remotely resembling full sunlight the LED screen is virtually unseeable. So you are literally shooting blind much of the time. Second, it doesn’t have a rechargable battery…and the battery life isn’t very long. So you need to always carry a spare set of batteries around….just in case. In short, I wish I’d spent a little more and bought a better camera.

I like the new c180 camera from Kodak. I needed a new point and shoot, and for the money, this one does the job fine. Love the 10 MP quality images. The only con I can think of is that the auto focus is a bit slow (almost nonexistent in low light situations). I’m not going to complain too loudly though. The price was right.

My camera came in time for Christmas and was the worst piece of equipment I have ever recieved. It would only take and store two pics…quality bad…,it would not save backups to the disk and the fully charged battery kept running out after 5 minutes.
