Tiffen 72mm Photo Essentials Filter Kit

Protect your camera lens from ultraviolet light while boosting your artistic possibilities with the Tiffen Photo Essentials filter kit. The kit--which includes an ultraviolet filter, circular polarizer, and warming filter--is an ideal accessory for photographers with 72mm filter diameters. The ultraviolet filter prevents UV light from reaching the lens, helping increase clarity and reduce haze. As a result, your photos look crystal clear even in mountainous and coastal areas, where ultraviolet light is particularly strong. The circular polarizer, meanwhile, is essential for outdoor photography, as it deepens the intensity of blue skies and reduces or eliminates glare. (Note that the circular polarizer is designed expressly for autofocus cameras.) Finally, the kit offers an exclusive color-warming filter that improves the color of all skin tones. Ideal for portraits, the color-warming filter absorbs the blue cast often caused by electronic flashes or outdoor shade, adding warmth to pale, washed-out flesh tones. As a bonus, the kit includes a pouch for filter storage. more info

Baby Age Does Not sell Tiffen Lens Filters
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Amazon and Baby age had a bad listing and I was a victim. I ordered the Tiffen 72HTHZE86 72MM Digital HT HAZE 86 Titanium Filter shown on Amazon as being sold by Baby Age and I received a pillow. I called Baby Age and they said they don’t sell lens filters. They provided UPS return postage for the pillow. Baby Age will not credit the $36.36 payment to my VISA. They sent me an e-mail giving me a credit for purchase of another Baby Age product. I will pursue the VISA refund through Amazon. Meanwhile, I advise lens filter buyers to ignore any listing showing Baby Age as a seller of Tiffen lens filters.
Good basic set of filters.
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is a good basic set of filters.
Caution: these filters are NOT coated, so you may get quite a bit of lens flare-up when shooting in direct sun. It gets rather disappointing if you put it on some excellent lens, so I can’t give it 5 stars. However, with a hood or hand blocking out the sun, you should be fine. The filters are definitely a great value for the price.
Functional and good build – not pro level lens but you get what you pay for
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I use these on my Nikkor 18-200mm, and they are well constructed with no defect. The filters achieve the desired results, but these aren’t high quality multicoated or extra thin lens for better light emission.
Overall I’m happy with the purchase. They were fairly economical for what I needed.
6 point star filter
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This filter I use for special lighting effects, (like christmas lights and have tired sun rises).. I have work with a four point star filter however the six point works better…You can do alot with these specialized filters
could be cheaper
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I got a set of the same filters from hoya at half the price (49.99). But what ever brand you buy they are a great additon to the camera bag. I also use tiffen filters and I love their product. Which is why I rated it a five.

Good filters
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I have used the UV filter since it arrived. I attached it to the 18-200mm VR lens and it never comes off. I also use the polarizer lens during bright sunlight. It makes the colors really come alive. All around good filter set.
Very disappointed.
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Had to send them back – VERY disappointed. The polarization of the circular polarizer was okay – but as you dialed the polarization down, a warm tone seeped into the image. So you either had cool (temp) polarized image, or a non-polarized, warm image. I could only handle it for about 30 mins before I went back inside and removed the filters and put it back in the box. Didn’t even try the UV filter.
Great Buy
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I have found that Tiffen filters offer unlimited possibilites. With this kit you get three great filters. Most important being the Circular Polarizer. If you are shooting outdoors it is a must have. You also get the 812 warming filter which I have found to bring great depths of warmth to photographs. Filters protect lenses and Tiffen I have found to be great quality and this is a great value.
Great for 18-200mm VR
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I did not had problem like others like product being dirty or anything. If you stack them you’ll get vignetting. UVP is just clear protection glass as it states. Already love 812. All 3 Fits perfect on 18-200mm VR.It comes with filter holder which is great to carry around. Adorama is great. I ordered it on 17th and received it on 20th via USPS. I received it on time but USPS did not provided any tracking info at all.
Great product for the price
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I have no problems with this product in the few times that I have used it so far. In hindsight I would have gotten a step up ring and gotten a 77mm filter as with a UV and the ND filter you get vignetting at wide angle.
Further Insight
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is one of the best bargains that i’ve seen, “essentially” you get 3 filters for the price of one. The image quality with these filters is great, the 812 (warming) filter is by far a favorite giving back the color richness that flash photography so often washes out, that is unless you have the patience for constantly tweaking your flash power. Aside from the 812 the UV protector is basically a clear protective filter. While it obviously has advantages over clear glass, I tend not to think of it as any different. This too is a great filter which I use about half the time because it doesn’t affect color hues or change f stop values too greatly while it takes the worry out of carrying the camera around ready for any candid shots that may occur. Finally included is the circular polarizer. This filter adjusts the amount of uv light entering the camera by spinning the filter to the direction the uv rays are entering (or turning the thingy till things look better). This lens is great for sunny days and will take surface glare off lakes and glass making them transparent again. It also makes colors more crisp in general when photographing buildings and other large “reflective” man-made things. So things sound great so far, but now to why I only give this item 4 stars. While Tiffen is known to be one of the best at photo and video filters, they have quality control issues that do no live up to thier reputation. In my case the 812 filter arrived with a discoloration in the glass. While it was didn’t hurt image quality, with the flaw being towards the edge of the filter, I none the less didn’t want to find a situation in which the flaw would diminish quality. Seeing as it was not amazon’s fault my first e-mail went to Tiffen for a replacement which they said they would gladly do, but only after I send them the filter and they recieve it would they ship my replacement (not an option in my circumstances). Instead Amazon’s wonderful customer service shown through again, and within 3 days they had replaced the entire set. The second set arrivided without flaw but since my other two filters were in perfect condition I traded just the 812. I havn’t had any other issues and i’m very satisfied with my filters. The only other word of warning would be to that of the circular polorizer. While I recieved 2 that were flawless occassionally I have read in reviews customers have received ones that were assembled backwards making the lens useless. A quick way to check to see if your CP is working correctly is to hold it, thread facing yourself, and look at an LCD monitor or TV and spin it until the picture dissapears(obviously working correctly). I still wouldn’t pass up this deal knowing what I do now, chances are everything will show up perfectly but none the less if you’re concerned order it before you need it and check everything over carefully. Amazon is always the best for returns and will often ship a replacement the next day with overnight shipping.
And a little further insight…
I was recently doing some black and white film photography, and decided to use my 812 warming filter as a protective lens as I was carrying 3 lenses with me. Just thought that I would mention that using this filter will produce a “White” sky in some outdoor photographs. The shots were taken with a gradient blue sky to which the entirety showed up white, even on bracketed sets, that should have shown something in one of the series. While itself was a interesting effect for some shots, it mostly just caused me frustration in the darkroom. I just wanted to add this as fair warning. I discovered this on accident, so I don’t know if it applies to all sky conditions as I didn’t do a lot B&W sky shots, I might test it using Photoshop later as I see they have the 812s effect built in. Anyways, good luck and have fun photoing.
Not sure about it !
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I feel that these filters are not required if you have digital camera the coze you you can do what ever you like by computer graphics programs only the UV protector is important.
Top notch so far
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Tiffen is a new brand to me. it is obviously well priced, because it is used in kits, which is how I discovered it. But the quality seems very good, and the packaging for use in a camera kit bag (soft padded envelope instead of hard plastic shell) is great. I will learn more, I am sure, as I use some of the others, in particular the polarizing filter. But I have been happy enough to get Tiffens for all my lenses. Through Amazon of course. They are always competitive on price, if compared to trusted sellers only.
good for you and good for your camera equipment
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This filter is great and I leave it on my camera 24-7. When I need to switch to a polarizing filter, I just screw that filter on and leave the haze-2A on. Not only does it keep your pictures crystal clear and crisp, but it also protects your camera. I do think it does affect your pictures more than the Haze- 1 filter as far as blocking out Uv rays, but for this price, it’s worth it. Great to protect that expensive lens or even that inexpensive lens on your camera.
Good filter
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The filter provides the protection I intended for the lense. I remove it when I am shooting in “safe” situations and remount it when shooting in difficult, crowded or situations where protection is imperative
Blue dye coming off Circular Polarizer
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Some blue stuff came off the glass when I try to clean it. What does this say about the quality?

3 filters for a small price

This review is for: Tiffen 72mm Photo Essentials Filter Kit (3 filters). good filters to begin photography with. They were delivered with a protective case.
Good basic filter set
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this for my Sony Alpha A100 camera with a Tokina lens. This is a great kit and more importantly, comes with the filters that you really need. The product was as expected (no defects or faults).
For $60, this is a decent buy if you want to get started quickly.
Review of light filter
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
It is a too dark blue filter and as such it cannot be used in a regular photography. It is necessary to have a choice of filters with different rate of density.
Like the Product – Not a Fan of the Distributor
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I ordered this product for my new Nikon D200 camera. The product was at a fair price and arrrived quickly.
This shipment is supposed to contain two components – a clear UV protection filter (mostly to protect the lens) and a circular polarizer filter (to help make the sky bluer and reduce reflected light).
HOWEVER, the state it arrived in was shocking:
1) Half the shipment was missing (the circular polarizing filter was not present)
2) The UV filter wasn’t in its original Tiffen protective packaging, but was instead floating around the box loose in a plastic bag.
3) Product had clear scuffs and scratches.
It would appear to me that the Tiffen product is good. However I cannot recommend J&R (and therefore Amazon) as a good source for buying this particular product. It arrived in a shocking state and is being returned.
Excellent for spooky mood images
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Looking through the viewfinder – you see nothing, since all visible light is blocked.
Looking at the final pictures – the blue sky is black, leaves and clouds are white – a spooky effect – very cool.
Tiffen 72mm 6-point star filter
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This is not what they have shown, it is a cheap Hoya filter. They lie about this item & it is a trap. They were going to push me for a Hoya instead of Tiffen filter. They are not honest people!
GREAT MAGNIFICATION
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I LOVE this set of Close Up Filters. The magnifications are +1, +2, and +4. They are great at the finest of details. The mags are clear and precise. Each filter is incredible. I actually once used the + 2 filter to magnify a picture that had been cut down to the size of a half dollar, centered it, and was able to save the clarity to process a 4×6 photo. It was unbeliveable!!!
good filter
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I bought this to combat differences in light and shadow and it does just that. Although it is not as strong as I thought .6 ND filter would be (I should have gotten a .9 ND) for a .6 it does exactly what it is supposed to and rotates very well. The seller got it to me in a timely fashion and without damage. Overall a great purchase for your camera arsenal.
good basic set
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Good basic set of inexpensive filters. Nice case. Great for a beginner/starting set. If you’re willing to spend more money on filters, getting B+W or Hoya will suit you better.
Tiffen filter set
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This filter set, for being the remarkable price it is, has treated me excellently. My only complaint is that the filters are a little thick if you plan on stacking. But other than that, This is an excellent set. I also love the carrying case. Extremely handy

We have ordered the wrong size, and hope that exchange goes smoothly. The product, ordering and shipping time were very good.
Just how it was described

Worked well, well worth the money. I used it for a sunny day at the church. It created the pictures just what I was looking for. I would reccomend this product to everyone.
Not Great
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
Bought these for my Nikon D200 about 3 months ago. Never having used Tiffen before I took a chance on a recommendation. Vignetting can be an issue for polarizing filters and the vignetting on this one is the worse I’ve seen. Build quality of all the filters is really not very good. Going to go back to Hoya’s which are much better.
It’s ok filter lens
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
The Filter is not like what i expected. i’d rather try another filter like hoya
Just OK, I’d get something else if I had to buy over again
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I purchased this as part of a special offer with a new Nikkor 18-200 VR. I set out to just get a UV filter to protect my new lens but found this package deal and decided to take it. I have to honestly say the filters are not of the best quality. The optical characteristics of the UV filter are substandard. It has very bad glare. The polarizer and the color warming filter also glare but its not as noticeable because they actually alter the appearance of the image.
I wound up getting another UV filter (B+W) which is awesome. I give this three stars because you do get a lot for your money and most beginners may not notice or care about the optics. If Tiffen could improve the glare on these filters this would be a great deal. Until then if you have the money I’d get something better (Hoya or B+W)
