Olympus XD Memory Reading "Card Full" but the card is not full?
Hi,
I have an Olympus Stylus 7010 digital camera, and for the past year I've been using an Olympus XD memory card with the camera with no problems. Then this week, the memory card which has no photos or video on it, says that the card is full anytime I try to put it into the camera... is the memory card corrupted? Is the camera broken? How do I fix this?
somebody suggested formatting it... how do I format the card... and why after using this card with this camera for a year would I need to format it now?
Thank you! Re-formatting worked, to access the format on the Stylus 7010 go to your menu, and then settings and it's the first option under settings... it should take about 45 seconds to re-format! This solved my problem! Thank you again!
Formatting your card at the end of each use, AFTER you have copied all the images to your computer is just part of the workflow. It seems that somewhere along the way, you missed that information.
When you first buy a memory card, it is important you format it and again after you have copied all your images to your computer at the end of the day.
Do NOT use the format feature on your computer. You need to use only the format feature on your cameras menu. It not only formats the card, but writes new file folders to the card as well which are unique to your camera.
As far as why have you been able to use the card all t his time without a problem? You have just been darn lucky. Many people end up with corrupted cards and since they rarely copy those images to their computer, lose a lot of valuable images.
