How should I handle husband caught in a lie?
I am 35 weeks pregnant my spouse and I decided to quit smoking. It was more on me than him(I am a home for our child) and he was going to cut back until he quit. I knew he was having a hard time , but proud of him. 6 months later he stopped, but took drags once in a great while. I am now 8 months pregnant and he's chewing gum (which he hates) wears lot's of cologne and keeping me out of his truck. I never have spied on him before but I felt he was hiding something. One morning he was asleep I went into his truck and found a 1/2 pack of smokes and lot's of empty ones. I handed him the pack and left it at that. He did say he was sorry. I have not responed(that was 2 days ago)Today reciepts were on our table I looked down and all of them were recent cigarette reciepts. Our friends and co workers knew he was smoking and keeping it from me. I feel like an idiot. Now with our son due in 4 weeks he tells me he has no intention to quit. why did he lie and what should I do.
Lying about anything in a marriage definitely breaks a trust and it will be very hard to believe him in the future. I would confront him tactfully about it and let him know just how you feel and that you are also concerned for the health of your baby and his health and see if maybe yall could seek help together. Does Quantaray still make lenses for Minolta / Sony cameras? Or can a Quantaray AF lens be repaired?
We have a Quantaray 70-300mm autofocus lens that we have used for years on our Minolta Maxxum StSi 35-mm film camera and which we started using in May 2009 on our Sony A350 DSLR camera. In August it kind of gave up the ghost -- will no longer auto-focus -- sounds like its gears are stripped.
So I'm looking for a new Quantaray 70-300mm autofocus lens. All I can find are used ones. One on ebay says in the description that the auto-focus doesn't work and it sounds like its gears are stripped. Sounds familiar, so I would be wary about buying a used one. Can you still buy new ones and, if so, where?
Also, what are the prospects for having our old Quantaray lens repaired?

Repairing a Quantaray lens isn't worth the money even if you could find someone to work on it.
Unless you absolutely have to have the 300mm reach, I suggest looking for a Minolta Maxxum AF 70-210mm f4 lens - the fabled "beer can". I own and use the older manual focus model and if anything happened to it I'd be looking for a replacement.

Sold my photo gear but now wondering if I should get a DSLR or a "high-end" point and shoot.?
I took 2 years of photojournalism classes in school just as a fun elective and then, when I was done with the classes, I sold all my gear (I used a Nikon D80). I miss taking good photos, and now that I have a little more money, I want to get a camera (I've just been using a $200 Canon point and shoot that isn't as useful in Manual mode as I am comfortable with).
I have narrowed it down to either a Canon G11, a Canon S90 or a fun, branching-out DSLR (not Nikon or Canon, which I've used a lot) like an Olympus E-620 or something like that.
I guess my question is what would anyone get a G11 or S90 when for LESS money you could get a used DSLR with a kit lens like a D40? At the moment, I'm leaning toward the G11, which I love the look and features of. BUT part of me thinks that would be acting stupidly when for the same price I could get a used DSLR.
I think you should get a DSLR. You said you got a point and shoot, so have a camera that has the bigger sensor for higher quality and the ability to change lenses.
You can check out something like the Panasonic GF1 or maybe the just announced Samsung NX which are more compact cameras with bigger sensors. These are pricey through.
Available now, smaller than many DSLRs and has some nice strengths like great high ISO performance and HD video is the Pentax K-x and with a 18-55mm zoom lens is about $550.
