Canon EF 70-200mm question by Maleah: What setting do I set my Canon EOS Rebel T1i using EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS II for indoor basketball?

Answer by fhotoace
You will find that the 70-200 mm f/2.8 is fine for shooting cross court, but from the baseline, you will want to use the 24-70 mm f/2.8

I shoot at 1600 ISO with the white balance matching the lights in the arena. In my case, 3400 Kelvin. Once I get a good meter reading, I shoot in the manual exposure mode for the whole game

As long as you can shoot with the shutter speed at 1/500th or faster, you will be good.

Canon 2X teleconverter with 60D and 70-200mm test

Is it worth getting a teleconverter? Non-scientific test of the Canon EF 2X II extender (teleconverter) on a Canon 60D with Canon 70-200mm f2.8 L IS lens. This lens is a Canon classic so in this test I have a quick look at what kind of image degradation we might experience if we add a teleconverter and are we gaining more image detail than without the extender. Ultraviolet light, which manifests itself in photographs as reduced clarity and the appearance of haze, is blocked by the UV 010. Ultraviolet light is invisible to the eye and is strong in mountainous and coastal areas with very clear air. This makes the colorless UV 010 an indispensable filter because it requires no exposure compensation. It is recommended as an ideal filter to be kept permanently on the lens to protect the front element. Filter factor is 1.0. more info
