My Toshiba laptop is stuck at the loading screen with the green bar(it's Vista)?
I had shut it off and it said it needed to install updates, well I fell asleep before it finished and when i woke up it was still on and at a black screen. I decided to turn it off and when I turned it on it was stuck at this loading screen. When i turn it off and back on it starts the disk repair and it fixes something but then it still goes right back to the annoying loading screen And also I'm a noob so please give directions.
Ok...hmm. This is what I would do, I am sure there is a better way, but since it is kinda hard to explain a problem with Indian people, I will try to help you out as much as I can.
First, this requires that you have System Restore enabled (you probably do) and if you don't know what that is I will explain at the end. Now:
1. Shut down the computer (hold down the power button, ect, just make sure it is off)
2. Turn it on and press F8 before the Windows logo appears
3. This will take you into Advanced Boot Options menu. Choose "Safe Mode" with the arrow keys and click the Enter key.
4. You should boot into Windows Vista. Log in normally (note: because you are in Safe Mode, at the corners of the screen it will say "Safe Mode" and might affect the resolution of the screen).
5. Click on the Start menu and search for System Restore.
6. Run System Restore and follow the instructions. You will be prompted to choose a date to restore to. Choose some date before the date that you installed the updates that caused the computer to crash. Finish the System Restore app.
7. Your computer should restart, don't interfere with anything it does. it *should* boot normally.
