nikon lens extension tube question by : how to attach a lens extension tube?
i have brought a macro lens extension tube for nikon and i have 5 rings: one labeled 1, one labeled 2, one labeled 3, one that closes in slightly at one end, and one with a silver ring. i put them on in this order: silver ring on the lens, a numbered ring (i have tried all of them together and only one at a time, then the one that closes slightly at one end on the camera. when i turn my camera on it still says no lens attached. i need help on how to attach it. i have a Nikon d3100

nikon lens extension tube best answer:

Answer by Jeroen Wijnands
Switch the camera to M mode and try again

Experimenting with how much Extension Tubes affect Degree of Zoom (Nikon D3100)

Experimenting with how much the addition of extension tubes affect the degree of zoom. Using a Nikon D3100 with the 18-55 mm kit lens (set to 55 mm). The animation shows how adding more and more extension rings increases the zoom level. Extension tubes are a cheap way to get a high degree of zoom, but their big drawback is that since less light reaches the sensor, you need to use much longer exposure times, which rules out taking pictures like this on free hand. You need a tripod or a table or similar.

Canon EF 70-200mm question by lyd285: questions on picking a lens?
ok so i think i am going to get the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L USM Telephoto Zoom Lens. Here is what i do not understand. I want a super soom lens. But i do not know how to figure out how far away i can zoom into or onto which ever you call it

I currently have the canon zoom lens ef 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 lens and the canon efs 18-55m lens. Will the new one be a lot better and be able to zoom in more? I am looking to do nature shots and such like bird watching etc.
how much closer can i get zoomed in if i get a 70-400 mm lens?

Canon EF 70-200mm best answer:

Answer by cabbiinc
Actually you will be able to zoom in less. Your current lens will go up to 300mm, thats pretty good. But if you want to get even closer you will need to go to a 400 or 500 or maybe even a 600mm lens. You are probably looking at the price of this lens and saying "why so much". Well this lens has the same aperature throughout. With your current lens your aperature can open up to f/4.0 at 70mm but only open up to f/5.6 at 300mm. The lower the number the wider your aperature and more light. The second part of this lens is its an L series lens. It has really good glass.

A much cheaper alternative is a teleconverter. It will multiply your current lens. If you bought a 2 times teleconverter your current lens would become a 150-600mm. The drawback is that you lose a full f-stop or two so you would need alot of light.

Answer by HisWifeTheirMom
Well, then you aren't going to get the best zoom lens availabe for the D5000.
Look at the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 that runs about $ 999. That would be the third choice for best zoom lens.

nikon lenses 70-300 os question by .::LJS::.: for all you Equestrian Event Photographers... lens question?
I do mainly Equestrian Show Jumping photography and I am looking for a new lens. I just got a brand new Nikon D3s. I am trying to decide between either the Sigma 120-400 F4.5-5.6 DG APO OS HSM or the Nikkor AF VR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D ED. Also, will these lenses be ok with a tele-converter? Because when I shoot in stadiums I need a little extra zoom sometimes..... Right now I just have been using a cheap 70-300 Quantaray lens...not very happy with it.

Thanks!
I am also open to other options

Getting a feel for the Nikon D5000 with three tele lenses. Nikkor 55-200 Nikkor 18-55 Nikkor 70-300 Lighting was from a 95 watt house lamp with a yellow lamp shade attached. Tripod was a cheap dynex video tripod. I was too lazy to go and get the manfrotto. So there is wobble in the video and shake. In my opinion the video is decent, I will be using this d5000 as a B camera to my HMC150 for some shoots. Definitely not the best camera for DSLR video but with a decent lens collection I feel it's very possible to create some very extraordinary scenes in the right hands. There is a lot of CMOS "wobble" when moving around too much, a good tripod is highly recommended.

Canon EF 70-200mm question by : How compariable is the canon ef 300mm f4.0 to the canon 3f 300mm 2.8?
I am an armature sports photographer and love the ef 300mm 2.8 but it's a bit pricey. Could I successfully shoot with the ef 300 f 4.0 during the day (I understand the limitations at night) and get better quality than I could by shooting with my canon ef 70 - 200mm with a 1.4 extender?

Canon EF 70-200mm best answer:

Answer by thephotographer
F/4 should be sufficient for daylight shooting, and should give you better quality than a 70-200mm+1.4x combo.

nikon lenses 2.8 70-200 question by fledermmaus: photography similar lenses to Nikon 70-200 2.8 and Nikon 17-35 2.8 ?
hi i need to know which lenses would do the job for these lenses
Nikon 70-200 2.8 and Nikon 17-35 2.8 ?
since these i can not afford them i want to buy some cheaper lenses
thanx

nikon lenses 2.8 70-200 best answer:

Answer by Shorty
hi on what body will you be using your lenses on?

If you are using a DX camera, the kit lens (18-55mm) will replace the 17-35mm f2.8 quite nicely. The 17-35mm was built for the full-frame camera; on a DX camera, it's ultra-wide angle becomes wasted. Alternatively, if you were going for an ultra-wide angle, consider the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8. It offers roughly the same coverage at the wide end as the 17-35 does on full frame.

For the 70-200mm f2.8, you can consider alternatives from Sigma and Tokina. Both make 70-200mm f2.8 lenses at a significantly cheaper price than Nikon.

A video review of my new lens, the Nikon 70-200 2.8 VR and Nikon's 2x teleconverter. This lens was purchased for my portraiture work but today I took it to a country park to test it out as a setup for wildlife photography to play with the teleconverter. The lens is fantastically sharp and I try to cover all the main points about this lens that make it worth the money it costs. A very good lens for all kinds of work. I hope to show it again in a video of how I use it most and where I think it is best, portraiture. Any questions or comments, fire away!
2010 Compact Digital Cameras ? Choosing A Family Camera
nikon lens rebate

We have located that if we divide compact cameras into numerous big interest groups and if we have particular suggestions at diverse price tag details inside of those groups we are capable to support camera purchasers make educated decisions.

The first of the big segments is the Household Digital camera group. A Household Camera is probably the "Jack of all trades" in photography. This camera is expected to cover a extensive range of scenarios and in common ease of use is as essential as high quality images. A Loved ones Digital camera is usually a a lot more standard compact camera style it appears like it could slip into almost any pocket or purse.

It can be beneficial to also outline what a Loved ones Digital camera is not: A Family Digital camera is not a sports activities digital camera nor is it meant to be a hobbyist / overall performance camera. Though the zoom lenses can get prolonged and powerful, a Household Camera's zoom is far more about usefulness than functionality.

There are a lot of camera brand names accessible but to maintain this article brief we will appear at Canon and Nikon designs only. Over ninety% of all cameras sold around the world are both a Canon or a Nikon. If you have a distinct model preference it ought to be easy to translate our suggestions into a Fuji, Olympus, Samsung or any of the other lines accessible.

The Family Digital camera group is subdivided into more compact characteristic and cost segments. Cameras in the same price tag variety tend to have the very same features: Beneath 5.00 we come across 4X zooms. More than .00 we will come across zoom lenses 5X and more robust. As soon as the price tag of the Family members Camera strategies .00 or more we find that the zoom lenses are inclined to be 10X and greater.

Make sure you be mindful that all of the price examples utilized are quoted at standard cost! Rebates and other savings might alter the real offering price tag of the cameras we will discuss.

]]>

Let us start off at the bottom and function our way up the price ladder with some certain camera product suggestions. Whilst Porter's delivers a number of cameras priced below .00 I will dismiss that group for now. These reduced value cameras are actually aimed at value shoppers only and they will not frequently have the functions that a Loved ones Photographer demands.

At five.00 and beneath the ideal options are the Nikon S4000, S3000 and the Canon SD1300 and A3100. Four distinctive cameras with four different function sets. All of these cameras characteristic a 4X zoom lens and 12 megapixel resolution and all have picture stabilization too. The image top quality is equivalent among all 4 types, the differences are strictly in the features.

The Canon A3100 is the lowest priced design and is a reliable no-frills selection. The Nikon S3000 is the next higher priced camera and it is thinner and more compact than the Canon A3100. Up we go to the Canon SD1300 which is Canon's modest entire body design that brings a wider angle lens to the variety and a metal entire body construction. Previous we have the Nikon S4000 which has the exact same thin entire body as the much less expensive S3000 but provides High definition video clip and offers touch screen handle.

In the group priced amongst 9.00 and 5.00 we locate that there are three powerful options. The Canon SD1400 and SX130, the Nikon S6000 matches in right here too. All are 14 megapixel cameras and all shoot Hd video.

The Canon SD1400 jumps to 14 megapixels and delivers Hd video clip in one particular of Canon's slimmest and most colorful cameras. The Canon SX130 is a more substantial digital camera physique but it provides the longest zoom lens in this digital camera loved ones at 12X. The Nikon S6000 continues the slim entire body style but sports a potent 7X zoom.

Ultimately, the Loved ones Camera group priced 9 and a lot more. This is an elite group of cameras had been each and every model has one thing very special to supply. All of the cameras function LCD viewscreens 3" or greater, all shoot Hd top quality video clip also.

The Canon SD4000 is all about the lens. The SD4000 has the fastest lens on a Family Digital camera, it makes it possible for more light in so it takes outstanding reduced mild photos. The SD1400 has a 10 megapixel sensor and the shortest zoom lens of this segment at 3.8X, but this style ahs been used to maximize the cameras reduced mild capabilities.

The Nikon S8100 is the only camera od this section to shoot in what is called "Complete High definition" which means 1080p high quality Hd video clip. With twelve megapixels and a quite effective 10X zoom this is Nikon's leading overall performance Loved ones Camera.

The Canon SX210 guidelines the scales with a 14X zoom lens in a slim entire body that looks to skinny to offer a lens of this sort of size. Most likely the really greatest Family members Camera for journey. The 14 megapixel sensor and high dynamic publicity mode present amazing low mild imaging.

The last of the Family members Digital camera group is the Nikon S80. The S80 is all about type with functionality. An ultra-thin camera that has a contact screen interface and a 5X zoom, the Nikon S80 boasts the most significant viewscreen of its course at 3.five" and 14 megapixels under the hood.

That's it. We've taken a 56 feasible camera models and narrowed the Loved ones Camera selections down to eleven models every single with a distinct set of capabilities. Just pick the capabilities that are the most essential: cost, zoom lens, video clip high quality or megapixels. The camera from this checklist that matches those wants could be your new "ideal camera ever before".

My new digital camera for college. I purchased this at B&H Photo's website. You can check out them out right here: www.bhphotovideo.com. I got the digital camera body only since I need 2 distinct lens for skoo so the digital camera that comes with a lens kit will not likely do. www.bhphotovideo.com There was an immediate rebate when I ordered this.

nikon lenses macro query by Patrick Burnett: Nikon Camera Lenses (Macro or Portrait) with Excellent Bokeh?
Hi. I have four Nikon lenses.
50mm AF f/one.8(D)
17-35mm AF f/two.8D IF ED
35-70mm AF f/2.8D IF ED
eighty-200 AF f/2.8D IF ED

I was just lately informed that I would be far better served to very own a 105mm f/two.five or 105mm f/2.8 lens (both manual emphasis making use of a D700).

I commenced researching on my personal and I read a bunch of weblogs (like Ken Rockwell's)
He brags about equally Nikon 105mm lenses but he enjoys the Nikon MF 85/2 (85mm f/two).

At this level, I have no concept what I want. I've studied hundreds of photographs and I'm a bit much more puzzled than what I was when I commenced. I want wonderful Bokeh. I've observed examples in this with each the 85/two and the 105mm (the two two.eight and 2.five)

I will most likely use the lens I pick for near-up bugs, h2o droplets, flowers etc. Nonetheless, is it practical to count on to use the same lens for wonderful, vibrant portraits exactly where the topic is virtually pulled out of the image (away from the blurred history). I am not a rich man or woman. Some of the lenses I own were handed to me by a departed pal. A single of them was aspect of a foolish trade.

I would really recognize a knowledgeable view about what to do.
I want to keep in the Nikon loved ones. If you have other ideas in Nikon, remember to share. Thanks!

nikon lenses macro best answer:

Answer by Phi
The 105 f/two.eight will perform great for macro and portraits. It will give you the shallow depth of subject you are looking for in portraits and true macro focusing for near ups.
Bokeh is a highly misunderstood expression. It is not the out of target blur in an image (shallow depth of field) it is actually a term utilised to explain how out of emphasis factors of light are rendered in the picture. -It is only the points of light- Lens layout does play a portion in how the pints of light are rendered in the out of focus locations. The 105 f/two.8 will contribute to nice bokeh.
